Butterflies + Plants:
Partners in Evolution
Smithsonian Institution,
National Museum of Natural History Washington, D.C.
This exhibit is designed to encourage visitors to look beneath the beauty of butterflies and flowers and discover how this unique relationship is a result of millions of years of co-evolution. The exhibit features two major areas: an indoor Pavilion with live butterflies; and the outside exhibit hall surrounding the Pavilion. The inspiration for the design concept came directly from the color and forms of the butterflies themselves, creating a delightful experience of fun and exploration through the playful use of scale and imagery.
