This Museum of Nature and Science promotes stewardship and stimulates curiosity about local New Mexico subjects — astronomy, fossil trackways, the Chihuahuan Desert. The desert ecosystems will be represented by live animal displays promoting stewardship of these delicate resources. New Mexico has played an important role in space research and discovery due to the year round clear weather, high altitude and low population. A small planetarium will be featured in addition to topical exhibits. The last and largest objects are casts of 280 million year old fossilized footprints of ancient pelycosaurs. The fossilized trackways provide insight into the way these creatures moved and behaved.
