As the state’s natural history museum, the five galleries were developed to showcase the remarkable natural history of Virginia and concepts in the state’s science curriculum. “Uncovering Virginia” reveals ancient Virginia (and local research of the museum’s scientists) while “How Nature Works” helps visitors understand scientific concepts in geology and biology. As an affiliate of the Smithsonian, the galleries offer hands on discovery-learning through multimedia and physical engagement.
