The Royal Ontario Museum is one of Canada’s leading cultural institutions. Spatial constraints in their Curatorial and Administrative Centre launched a comprehensive study to determine short and long term scenarios for improving space use and accommodating growth. Reich+Petch provided Facility Planning for this study that evaluated the ROM’s existing 315,000 sq ft Curatorial and Administrative Centre and additional off-site facilities. The firm developed short and long-term planning options to address the need to update the facility, re-organize the departments, improve space utilization, and accommodate future collections growth. R+P worked with the ROM to assess at a high level potential building updates and renovations, develop spatial analysis of the existing facility, and recommended options for accommodating future needs in a variety of planning models.
