Western Development Museum: Winning the Prairie Gamble

Utilizing the museum’s extensive collection of large artifacts, “Winning the Prairie Gamble” puts the visitor in the shoes of the farmer to experience life on the farm and its development over the last century. The gallery follows the lives of a typical farm family through 100 years of struggle, challenge and opportunity. Large tactile objects, such as locomotives and 20-ton steam tractors, are combined with small personal effects in reconstructed environments, immersing the visitor in the artifacts’ context.
